Emergency Preparedness – with crypto.

I wrote this post months ago in preparation for possible riots around the world. So far,we’ve seen BlackLivesMatter, Antifa (more like pro-tifa as in pro-fascist) wildfires etc etc.

Normies aren’t ready for Decentralized Finance, it comes with responsibilities, period.
If you own lots of crypto, then you are your own private bank. Institutional investors can deposit their billions into solutions like Coinbase Custody, but you and I don’t have that privilege. Being your own private bank, it comes with fairly heavy responsibilities.
You don’t want to be that guy that forgot to bring his private keys when he/she is forced to leave his/her property in emergency situations. Put your hardware keys in a bugout-bag.

I own a bug-out bag… What is a bug-out bag?
A bug-out bag is a portable kit that normally contains the items one would require to survive for 72 hours when evacuating from a man-made or natural disasters. (Hurricanes, Wildfires, Riots, Arson, Earthquakes, Tsunami’s.) Always hide your private-keys in your bug-out-wallet. Don’t forget to hide/disguise your bug-out-bag or simply hide in a trashcontainer under a pile of trash.

If you got money to burn, build a bug-out-vehicle (car, boat, bike)

The reason why I bring this up, it’s because ammo and gun-sales are going through the roof since February 2020. Fear creates consumption, get your prepkit ready before you have to fight to obtain one.

Crypto-centric Bug-out-bag

A Decentralized Finance – bug-out-bag should contain the following items :

  • Two hardware-wallets (backup hardware-wallet for recovery)
  • Yubico – YubiKey (incase I need to bypass 2step verification)
  • Fully encrypted (veracrypt) usb stick with a KeePass password Manager.
  • Passport/ID with important documents. (store them in a waterproof bag)
  • For 2step verification I use a spare-phone that is always offline.
  • Fiat money
  • Power-banks + Small solar-panel.
  • Small ultrabook, or windows-tablet for withdrawing from a exchange.
  • Portable WIFI-hotspot.

Extra

If you live in apartment, might be a good idea to invest in Rappelling gear, it can provide a extra escape route.
Make copies of your wallet-seed-words that allows recovery of your hardware-wallets. Hide them for example in your grand-parents house. Be creative like hiding them in plain-sight with art.

Hurddurr, all this effort for a couple internet meme-coins. We’re shifting towards web3, powered by layer-1 platforms like ethereum, harmony.one, nervos-network. Ok, Let me explain. Web 2 protocols like ftp, http, telnet, were indeed worthless, value was generated by companies/applications that builded value on top of these web2 protocols. Think of facebook, amazon, google, etc etc.

Building applications that can scale to millions of users isn’t cheap or easy but with platforms like ethereum, this should all change. Web 3 Applications will become easier to build and cheaper to host.

By 2030, global internet will be powered by layer-1 blockchain platforms like ethereum, harmony.one, dot, nervos, dfinity. I am predicting that the resources/fuel (ethereum, nervos, dfinity) will become scarce and value – price will grow along with adoption.
